Miss
California, 22-year-old Crystal Lee, was asked about possible U.S.
intervention in Syria on the night of September 15, 2013, Sunday, at the
Miss America pageant.
President Obama answered the same question during his address to the Nation on September 10, 2013, Tuesday.
Surprisingly, Miss California’s answer to a question about Syria sounded an awful lot like what President Obama said.

“I
believe as one of the most powerful countries in the world, we have an
ethical obligation to prevent a leader of a country who is using
chemical weapons on his people.”
“My
fellow Americans, for nearly seven decades, the United States has been
the anchor of global security. This has meant doing more than forging
international agreements; it has meant enforcing them. The burdens of
leadership are often heavy, but the world’s a better place because we
have borne them.”
Then they said approval of the Congress would be a good thing.
“I believe we should use Congressional support if we can…”
“I
believed it was right in the absence of a direct or imminent threat to
our security to take this debate to Congress. I believe our democracy is
stronger when the president acts with the support of Congress…”
And finally they both said America should do this “together.”
“[T]his is something we need to all handle together.”
“I believe that America acts more effectively abroad when we stand together.”
NOW, the main difference:
Miss California’s answer was 17 seconds long, and Obama’s was just over 15 minutes!
