ASUU STRIKE: FG, ASUU To Meet Again Next Week


Academic Staff Union of Universities met across the country on Thursday to consider the offer by the Federal Government.
The ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Faggae after a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan which ended in the early hours of Tuesday had told reporters that the union would take back an undisclosed message to their members.
The PUNCH gathered that the striking public universities lecturers met in the nine zones of ASUU with branch chairmen to discuss the outcome of the meeting with the President.

Two suspected members of Eiye Cult group were apprehended by Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lagos state. The duo confessed they were hired to kill five people around Alaba Market in Ojo before the police arrested them.
The suspects, identified as Ola Jimoh Sodiq, 28, and Ibrahim Oshilemo, 27, both originate from Lagos State. They were captured in their hideout in Sabo Ajangbadi area of Iba Local Government Area of Lagos.
Following the killing of five persons by masked men around Alaba International Market in Ojo, detectives from SARS were invited to investigate the attacks which led to the arrest of the two suspected cultists.

It has been uncovered that a growing number of middle-class housewives secretly work as prostitutes in Lagos without the knowledge of their husbands, though accurate statistics with which to prove it are hard to come by.
Reports have it that some of these women are successful at it and have made enough money from the business as they now own boutiques and apartments within the city.
Some are said to do for money while others do it for the fun of it.

According to Debswana, a mining conglomerate jointly owned by De Beers and the Botswana government, the richest piece of land on the planet may very well be the Jwaneng diamond mine, one of the world's five super pits.
"Jwaneng mine is the most valuable diamond mine in the world by value," says Esther Kanaimba-Senai, the head of corporate affairs for Debswana in Botswana. "Each carat that we mine fetches a lot more money. … In addition the volume that we produce lends itself to be the most valuable mine in the world."

RECIPE To all LIN Readers: Strawberries And Cream

Dietitian’s Tip:

Strawberries are a good source of vitamin C and potassium. Here they’re paired with amaretto liqueur and sour cream for a low-fat dessert.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups fat-free sour cream
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons amaretto liqueur
1 quart fresh strawberries, hulled and halved (reserve 6 whole for garnish)

Directions:

In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, brown sugar and liqueur.

In a large bowl, add the halved strawberries and sour cream mixture. Stir gently to mix. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled, about 1 hour.

Scoop the strawberries into 6 colorful bowls or chilled sherbet glasses. Garnish with whole strawberries and serve immediately.

Governor Chime admits detaining his wife..but says its in her interest

Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has confirmed reports that he is keeping his wife incarcerated, but that he is doing so in her interest.
“I wanted the best for her and that’s why I pleaded with the doctors to have her treated at home,” he stated during a press conference in Enugu.  “That’s also why I allowed her access to her telephone and laptop which unfortunately led to the stage where I’m now being falsely accused of imprisoning or detaining my own wife.”
